Flooding victims to get FEMA money

FAIRBANKS -- The Federal Emergency Management Agency is awarding $235,000 in aid so far to victims of flooding on the Yukon River this spring.

The money is going to 21 Alaska applicants.

FEMA says the aid is for housing assistance and other "serious disaster-related expenses not covered by insurance."

The agency says 225 homeowners and renters have applied for disaster assistance.

Individuals have until Aug. 10 to register for federal assistance.
