KTUU: Rep. Jay Ramras (R-Fairbanks) said Monday he bought 5,000 shares of TransCanada stock after a pro-Palin blog accused him of having a conflict of interest for, in part, owning 5,000 shares of BP stock. (The two firms are partners in opposing consortiums planning pipelines to move Alaska gas to the Lower 48.) Ramras has been a persistent critic of the AGIA process that saw Palin and the Legislature endorse the TransCanada bid. He said the pro-Palin bloggers who accused him of having a conflict of interest are "creepy people that have invaded the state of Alaska and are smearing elected citizen-legislators who are trying to advocate a point of view, which is what we're elected to do."

KTUU reports: "Ramras describes himself as a day trader who often makes large transactions. He says he would have sold his BP stock sooner had it not tanked shortly after he bought it."
