AROUND THE HORN

-- Jason Coats hit a grand slam in the first inning to lead the Glacier Pilots past the Anchorage Bucs 9-7 in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader at Mulcahy Stadium. Coats finished with five RBIs. In the second inning, Pilots infielder Gunner Glad furnished a two-run homer.

-- The league-leading Mat-Su Miners fell to the Fairbanks Goldpanners, 4-3 Saturday. Tied 1-1, Panners first-baseman Andrew Pollack smacked a solo homer in the second inning for the go-ahead.

-- The Athletes in Action swept the Peninsula Oilers in an away double-header, but remain in last place in the league. AIA's Ben Minard drove in Ryan Enos in the first inning and Enos doubled in the eighth to bring in Austin Schultz for the 2-0 victory in the first game. AIA won the second game 5-1, the Oilers lone run coming from a seventh-inning wild pitch. AIA's Trey Wimmer recorded three hits and a pair of RBIs and Brian Kolb contributed one run, two hits and two RBIs.
