AROUND THE HORN
-- Jonathan Johnson hit a fifth-inning triple to drive in two runs and lead the Mat-Su Miners to a 2-0 victory over the Peninsula Oilers on Thursday. Winning pitcher Will Musson threw eight shutout innings, struck out eight and gave up five hits. The Goldpanners left 11 men on base. With the victory, the Miners managed to hang on to their first-place tie with the Anchorage Bucs.
-- Austin Barnes drove in half the Bucs' runs when Anchorage beat the Fairbanks Goldpanners 6-5. Barnes drove in two with a fourth-inning double and plated the game-winner with a fielder's choice in the sixth. Kevin Jacob earned his eleventh save of the season after striking out two in the ninth.
-- Tied in the bottom of the eleventh inning, Tyler Reeves stole third base, then scored the game-winner with an unearned run on a passed ball by Aaron Parnell, lifting Athletes in Action to a 3-2 victory over the Glacier Pilots. It was the Pilots' third loss in a row to AIA.
