The University of Alaska Anchorage appointed Beth Rose as assistant vice chancellor for development in university advancement. Rose joined UAA in 2006 as a senior development officer and became the interim AVC for development in June 2007. She earned her Certified Fund Raising Executive certification, the most highly regarded credential for development professionals, in fall 2008. During the two years in which Rose has served in the interim AVC role, she has provided leadership, stability and mentorship to the development team.
WHPacific welcomes Jay Hermanson as the new director of alternative energy solutions and Brian Yanity to its electrical engineering division. Hermanson has a master's degree in business administration from the University of Alaska Anchorage and a bachelor's degree in management from Washington State University. He brings more than 17 years of project management experience in alternative energy and power generation, infrastructure development, economic development, rural infrastructure operations and business planning to his new position. Yanity holds a Master of Science degree in Arctic engineering from the University of Alaska Anchorage, a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Arts in physics from Bard College. He is an electrical designer on renewable energy development projects, focusing on village-scale projects in rural Alaska. For the past few years, Brian has worked on a variety of projects in small-scale hydropower, wind, tidal, wood biomass and geothermal energy.
The Alaska Academy of Family Physicians has honored Kevin Creelman, M.D., of Kodiak with the 2009 Alaska Family Physician of the Year Award. Creelman has practiced medicine in Kodiak for 27 years. He has delivered more than 1,000 babies in the state and, in addition to a busy clinic/hospital practice in Kodiak, covered a weekly 24-hour ER shift for all of those years. The Family Physician of the Year Award is the highest honor given to a member of the Alaska Academy of Family Physicians. The criteria are to be a compassionate family physician, have engaged in community involvement, and provide a credible role model as a healer and human being to the community, and as a professional in the science and art of medicine to colleagues.
Wells Fargo has appointed six new Anchorage store managers: Rollin Hansen, Lara Shogren, Hemant Sisodia, Cheryl Vonada, Tamara Graham and Ryan Wagner. Hansen is manager for the Frontier store in East Anchorage at 7731 E. Northern Lights Blvd. He joined the company in January 2008 as a personal banker in Juneau. He has five years of financial services experience. Shogren is store manager for the Sears Mall location. An eight-year Wells Fargo veteran, she has served as a teller, personal banker and store manager. She earned a bachelor's degree in history from the University of Alaska Anchorage. Sisodia is the Fifth Avenue store manager. Most recently, Sisodia was the Frontier store manager. Sisodia joined Wells Fargo in April 2007 as a teller and subsequently graduated from Wells Fargo's Personal Banker Forward Hire training program. Vonada is manager for the Northern Lights and C Street store. Vonada is a 22-year Wells Fargo veteran who was Sears Mall store manager for the past four years. Graham also has been named Northern Lights and C Street store manager, reporting to Vonada. Graham has been with Wells Fargo for eight years. Most recently, she served as a sales development consultant supporting Anchorage and Mat-Su Valley team members. Wagner is manager for the Benson store in Midtown. Since joining Wells Fargo in 2003, he has been a teller in Oregon and a personal banker and store manager in Anchorage. Brenda Miernyk is the new branch manager for the Midtown location in the Calais Building. Miernyk is responsible for day-to-day operations of the store including customer service, business development, marketing and promotions and sales training. She has 16 years of mortgage industry experience as a branch manager, loan officer and underwriter. She holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from Colorado State University.
