Keith Smith, who played for the Wild last season but was not re-signed, led the Grizzlies with three touchdown catches -- giving him sixteen for the season.
The Wild were missing Demarcus James, who leads the Indoor Football League in kickoff-return touchdowns with nine, who was on the sidelines with his left arm in a sling because of a dislocated elbow suffered in their last game. The Wild had to use kicker Jeff Tongate as a receiver. Tongate furnished one touchdown in the loss.
The Wild's first score came with 33 seconds remaining in the first half, when Paul Mosley caught a touchdown pass to cut the Grizzlies' lead to 27-6.
Mosley rushed for 37 yards and two touchdowns on 10 carries and made two catches for 12 yards and a touchdown.
Fairbanks swept Alaska in its four-game series this season.
