-- The Mat-Su Miners dropped two games to the Fairbanks Goldpanners on Saturday, but remain at the top of league standings. In the first game, starting pitcher Jesse Meaux threw all seven innings for the Panners, giving up two hits for the 2-0 victory. In the second game, the Panners scored four seventh-inning runs for a come-from-behind 6-5 victory. Leadoff hitter Jonathan Johnson went 4 for 4 and scored one run for the Miners and Martin Medina furnished two runs, two hits and one RBI for the Panners.
-- Ben Minard yielded two runs on two hits to pick up the victory in AIA's 7-6 squeaker over the Bucs, who wasted a chance to move up in the standings after the Miners' pair of losses. They face the Fire again today in a doubleheader.
