In an announcement this week, the governor's office said Woods has experience subsistence hunting, fishing and trapping in Rampart and previously worked for the Yukon Flats School District.
Lawmakers in March rejected Palin's previous appointment to the board, Brent Johnson, a set-net commercial fisherman from Clam Gulch on the Kenai Peninsula. Sportfishing groups opposed Johnson, saying he would tilt the board toward commercial fishing interests, according to The Associated Press.
The seven board members are appointed by the governor, subject to legislative confirmation, to help manage the state's subsistence, commercial, sport and personal-use fisheries.
