-- Evan Simonitsch hit a third-inning grand slam to give the Goldpanners a one-run lead, propelling the Panners to a 5- 4 victory in the second game of Friday's doubleheader. In the first game, the Oilers shut out the Panners 5-0. Oilers pitcher Chad Smith, a freshman at the University of Southern California, earned the win.
-- The league-leading Mat-Su Miners widened their lead, capturing an 8-4 victory over the third-place Glacier Pilots. Nick Cox, a sophomore at Columbia University, recorded two hits and a pair of RBIs for the Miners.
