Third-seeded Service posted six runs in the seventh inning -- including a two-RBI homer by Bryan Beard -- to handily defeat sixth-seeded Wasilla in the first round of the American Legion State Baseball Tournament.

In other tournament action:

• Outfielder Braden Price recorded two runs, two hits and a pair of RBIs to help the eighth-seeded Kardinals dominate ninth-seeded West 11-2 at Mulcahy Stadium.

Kenai infielder Jake Darrow contributed two hits and two RBIs.

Today the Kardinals face top-seeded Chugiak at 5 p.m. at Hermon Brothers Field in the Mustangs' first tournament appearance.

• Luke Schnellbaecher tripled in the second inning, doubled in the fifth and scored two runs to propel No. 7 seed East past 10th-seeded Bartlett 17-7 at Hermon Brother's Field.

Today the T-Birds face second-seeded South at 1:30 p.m.

• Also at Hermon Brothers Field, Fairbanks pitcher Torgen Soderlund struck out six batters and singled to help Fairbanks to a 8-5 victory over fourth seed Dimond.

Michael McAllister contributed a third-inning homer to center field for fifth-seeded Fairbanks.
