UNALASKA -- For the 20th year in a row, the port of Dutch Harbor-Unalaska is the country's top port when it comes to pounds of seafood landed.

NOAA's Fisheries Service said Wednesday that fishermen unloaded 612.7 million pounds of fish and shellfish at the port last year, mostly pollock. That's down from 777 million in 2007, but still well ahead of any other U.S. port.

Reedville, Va., placed second at 354 million pounds.

The port of New Bedford, Mass., claimed the top spot for value of landings, mostly due to sea scallops. Dutch Harbor ranked second in value at $195 million. Kodiak was third at $98.7 million.
