Link: KCAW, Sitka Interest in the defunct Sheldon Jackson College campus by the University of Dubuque, affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (USA) -- as was Sheldon Jackson -- has come as a surprise to many Sitkans. Some are concerned Dubuque officials alone will decide the fate of Sheldon Jackson, perhaps ignoring the college's historic mission to educate Native students. Others consider Dubuque's support the best hope for resurrecting the historic Alaska college. Dubuque officials are suggesting they would want a close relationship with the community.
