According to a troopers report, at about 2 p.m., a Honda driven by Lionel Goodrich, 22, of Palmer, cut through a parking lot to turn from the Fishhook-Willow Road onto the Parks Highway. He pulled into the path of a northbound semi pulling two trailers. The semi t-boned the Honda, and Goodrich, who wasn't wearing a seat belt, was ejected from his car, landing about 150 feet away from the collision. The semi and its first trailer rolled and slid about 200 feet while second trailer remained upright, blocking the road.
Goodrich and the semi driver, Daryl Spaeth, 55, of Anchorage, were taken to Mat-Su Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, troopers said.
The semi leaked about 100 gallons of diesel, and state environmental officers responded to the spill, Troopers said.
Troopers reopened the highway at about 6:30 p.m.
It was one of five accidents in the Willow area on Sunday and the only one with injuries, troopers said. Most of the accidents in the area were caused by impatient drivers not slowing down in the rain, but two were caused by drivers asleep at the wheel, troopers said.
