Link: Kodiak Daily Mirror Kodiak's new KFC/Taco Bell combo fast-food outlet had the most successful grand opening ever for corporate giant Yum! Brands. The first few weeks saw drive-through lines as long as 30 cars. No specific sales numbers are given, but franchise owner Dan Rohrer -- who recently was voted Kodiak's No. 2 "local celebrity" for opening the restaurant -- says its success awakened corporate execs to the potential of doing business in smaller American communities. "Our grand opening here has set the tone for rural communities across the West, particularly the Midwest," Rohrer said. "They've had an easier time getting new franchises, which is really exciting, because (Yum!) used to be totally opposed to going into rural areas."
