FAIRBANKS -- A motorcyclist died after losing control and crashing into a guardrail on the Elliott Highway, north of Fairbanks.
Heather Rini, 22, of Fort Wainwright, was killed when her 2007 Yamaha motorcycle crashed at 3 p.m. Saturday at Mile 3 of the highway, according to the Alaska State Troopers.
Rini was headed north, going uphill when she failed to negotiate a curve and collided with the guardrail. She was wearing a helmet but was thrown off the bike and died at the scene.
The crash is under investigation.
