Hans Deemer, former coach of the Alaska Wild, an indoor football team that began in Anchorage in 2007, heads up the Arctic Predators, which will be housed in the Menard Sports Center.
He's hoping a roster of 30 players, plus a full team of dancing women, will draw a reliable crowd during their 14-game April-July season.
"I wanted to bring some form of football higher (than high school) to the state, just so kids can see what it's about," said Deemer, who coached Colony High School football from 1996-2001.
The team will be a member of the Indoor Football League's Pacific Division. According to its Web site, www.goIFL.com, the IFL formed last year when the Intense Football League merged with the United Football League to include a total of 19 teams from all over the country.
Deemer said try-outs will be just before Thanksgiving.
