Obama's speech is evil???

I have heard reports that some Alaska parents are considering calling their child in sick next Tuesday so they won't hear President Obama address the students of the nation. Even with the town hall meetings and conspiracy theories, this is one of the more bewildering things i've heard.

Presidents have been speaking to the youth for years, including President Roosevelt and President Bush. So why now is it such an evil act?

President Obama will be urging students to stay in school and reach their education goals. Why is this so bad? That doesn't sound like an agenda. Our students need to be encouraged to finish school and go to college, which can give them a great advantage in today's economy.

The speech will be available online on monday for those who are still concerned. I pray that parents will put their child's education before their political opinions.

Comeau stands up to anti-Obama bullies

The time has come to put a end to the bullies of this country and our town. When a small group of people and in Anchorage"s case one church feel it's all right to shout down the rest of us on any issue that they don't like it's a sad day. Trying to keep the president of this country from speaking to school age kids about the need of a good education and staying in school is ridiculous. If the president speaking to the kids is so wrong why was it all right for the first President. Bush to do the same thing? Thank you to Carol Comeau for sticking to your guns.

Ms. Comeau, time to go

We elect presidents of the United States for four years, senators for six years and congressmen for two years. Why is this? Because it's the law of the land (the Constitution). This makes sense. Working Americans realize that after a certain amount of time in a job, you have done all you can with your given task and it is time to move on and give someone with a fresh perspective an opportunity. Carol Comeau was appointed superintendent of the Anchorage School District in December of 2000. It's coming onto nine years. This is more time in office than we allow presidents.

We need someone who can deal with the ever-expanding expenses of Taj Mahal buildings; who can deal with juvenile delinquents while they are still young enough to deal with and who is not such an insider with the teachers' union. Nine years is enough.

Hey, 'civilized' Republicans . . .

A note to all the "civilized' Republicans out there:

If you did not immediately and loudly condemn the actions of the gun-toting, nazi sign waving trailer trash idiots screaming at the town hall meetings recently then you are no better than they are. It does not matter what position you hold or how well you dress. Please quit using the oxygen that a decent human being deserves.
