Fort Wainwright Stryker brigade completing return from Iraq

FORT WAINWRIGHT -- With flights this weekend, nearly all 4,000 members of the 1st Stryker brigade will be back at Fairbanks' Fort Wainwright after a year in Iraq.

The Army says a contingent of soldiers who are shipping equipment remain in Iraq but should be back by the end of the month, and others escorting equipment are due in November.

The brigade was deployed in the northern Iraq province of Diyala and conducted anti-insurgency operations to stabilize the region and support the government.
