Kodiak police struggle with limited jail space

Link: Kodiak Daily Mirror Kodiak police say they are "closing" the city's 16-person jail monthly because it's full, and they're hoping someone will come up with $2.1 million to finish the space left for a bigger one in the new Kodiak Police Department headquarters. "At least once a month we are at closed status, and that may last 12 hours or a few days," says Chief TC Kamai. Currently, police are turning loose nonviolent offenders when a must-jail offender is brought in.
