Canadian power line support boosts Southeast dreams

Link: Juneau Empire The Canadian government's backing of a high-voltage power line into northwest British Columbia has boosted hopes of Southeast Alaska hydropower proponents that a long-sought electrical intertie between Alaska and the Canadian province might be built. Southeast communities have had trouble developing hydroelectric potential because of limited demand. But exporting Southeast power through B.C. could open the way for new projects, said Ernie Christian, the vice mayor of Wrangell.
