Homer winery invests in wind power

Link: Homer Tribune The owners of Homer's Bear Creek Winery set up a 70-foot wind tower last week and are hoping it produces enough juice to power equipment and heat the winery building. The property on East End Road, three miles east of town, is not the windiest place in Homer, "but we do as much as we can to lesson our carbon footprint," said Dorothy Fry, co-owner with her husband, Bill. "We felt very strongly that you can't just talk the talk. You have to walk the walk." Bear Creek will have an open house Oct. 11 to show off the new system.
