The Cessna Citation-560 aircraft was scheduled to land on the main strip and radioed ahead it was having mechanical problems with its gear, Air Force spokesman Master Sgt. Mikal Canfield said.
It touched down at 3:24 p.m. as emergency personnel were standing by, he said. Waiting firefighters sprayed it down with foam as a precaution against fire, he said.
Three people were aboard and none reported injuries. The aircraft, a small transportation jet, is part of an Army detachment on Elmendorf, though the exact nature of its flight today was not clear.
Accident investigators were beginning an investigation, Canfield said.
