Link: Fairbanks Daily News-Miner The Readers on the Run 5K footrace in Ester, near Fairbanks, on Saturday was officially a library fundraiser. But the 28 participants didn't have to finish first to be a winner: Each had to stop once during the race to compose a poem on a cookie sheet using those magnetic "refrigerator" words, and the judges awarded poetry prizes. "None of Fairbanks' premier runners were in attendance Saturday," the News-Miner observed, "calling into question the literary genius of the city's top runners."
