Have you heard," The sky is falling, the sky is falling."
Are these meddling morons at it again?
Why or how can the EPA prove these bogus statistics in the Pollution Paradox article (Oct. 15). Their credibility is in question.
At the same time let it be known that the chemical composition that makes up tires has carcinogenic compounds.
Hey, EPA, how about banning all tires at the same time you force most of the conventional Fueled ships to head to ports in China?
How about the Valley of the Smokes?
These well meaning people at the EPA are trying to do the right thing, just now the logical thing.
Give the cruise ship companies a reasonable time frame to transition and to absorb the expenses. We are talking millions of dollars per vessel and months of layup to produce the expected outcome.

Maintain privacy, and what's that about fame?
President Obama, don't alter "don't ask, don't tell".
Things in my life and yours should be kept to ourselves. The problems begin when we want others to know and approve. Please keep your 15 minutes of fame and I'll keep mine.

Hey, what about our beloved Seahawks?
On November 1, the Seattle Seahawks play the Dallas Cowboys in Dallas. Here's the big question. Will Fox (channel 4) once again pre- empt the Seahawks game like they did on Sunday October 18 against the Arizona Cardinals in favor of......are you ready......Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?!!!!, and some additional trivial shows to fill the time slot!!!
Believe it or not there are a few people in Alaska who follow Seattle sports, such as the Washington Huskies, Seattle Mariners, and the Seattle Seahawks. Unfortunately watching local T.V. you would think that the sports announcers had never heard of Seattle sports teams, except as a footnote to the really "important" teams like those located almost anyplace except Seattle.
As for the Anchorage Daily News, we need a magnifying glass to find results of Seattle sports teams, but when Fox pre-empted the October 18 Seahawks game, that just couldn't be ignored.
There are thousands of University of Washington alumni living in Anchorage, and throughout Alaska, and I think it is about time that local sportscasters recognized the fact that we are as fanatical about our teams as fanatics from any other city.
