The Alcohol Beverage Control Board doesn't have a record of a public vote, and the liquor store was closed last week when Fort Yukon officials couldn't present evidence of such a vote taking place.
Control board director Shirley Gifford allowed the liquor store to continue operating Wednesday.
She says the city has 45 days to find evidence of a vote or hold a special election giving Fort Yukon authority to sell alcohol.
