Otei had left a suicide note at his home in a trailer park at 2221 Muldoon Road, which sits about half mile to a mile from where he was found, police say. There are no signs of foul play in the death, said Lt. Dave Parker, a police spokesman.
"Those who arrived at the scene suspected that hypothermia would have played a role, but the final determination will be made by the medical examiner," Parker said.
A family member discovered his body today and set a kind of signal fire -- the trail of smoke could be seen along the outskirts of East Anchorage -- so authorities could find the body, Parker said.
