FAIRBANKS -- The superintendent of the Fairbanks North Star Borough School District is resigning.

The district said Nancy Wagner's resignation is effective June 30. School Board officials said they hope to have a new superintendent hired before the start of the 2010 school year.

The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner says no reason was given for Wagner's resignation.

She was named to the post in February 2007 after a nationwide search.
