FAIRBANKS -- An ice jam on the Tanana River has caused some minor flooding in Salcha.
Rob Weathers of Salcha Fire and Rescue said the department started getting calls Saturday night but no homes or roads were flooded. A National Weather Service observer visited Salcha on Monday. In a press release, the weather service said the situation remains "very dynamic," with some channels nearly ice free and others choked with ice. The statement said minor flooding was expected to continue Tuesday and probably longer.
