Police say the pair had been out drinking when Runyon and Beamer pulled up near a downtown nightspot and Beamer got out. Beamer approached a man and his girlfriend who were getting into a vehicle and opened the woman's door, sticking a gun in her face, police said.

The robber demanded valuables and took off with cash, an iPhone and a Coach purse, police said.

Police caught up with Runyon and Beamer and arrested them at Eighth Avenue and Ingra Street.

Beamer, a soldier with the 6th Engineer Battalion at Fort Richardson, was charged with two counts of first-degree robbery, third-degree assault and second-degree theft. His bail was set at $50,000. Runyon was charged with two counts of first-degree robbery and was being held with bail set at $20,000, according to police.
