Alaska Pro Musica -- violinist Walter Olivares, pianist Timothy Smith and clarinetist Mark Wolbers -- will present a recital in the UAA Arts Building recital hall at 4 p.m. Sunday. The program includes works by Johann Baptist Vanhal, Aram Khachaturian, Edvard Grieg and the late Pierre Gabaye. Oh, and Franz Liszt. It wouldn't be a Timothy Smith concert without Liszt. Tickets are $18 at centertix.net.

Nebulous trio
"Shadows and Fog" is the subject of a group show by three different artists, opening at 5 p.m. this evening at Out North, 3800 Debarr Road. Sheary Clough Suiter's contribution is abstracted figurative encaustic paintings. Oil painter Carol Lambert presents still lifes and Zhanna Lukyanova is showing landscape based photography. The show is curated by K N Goodrich who says she brought the three together because she thought their diverse styles and media offered "a continuity that would make for a good visual conversation about shadows and fog." Backgrounds on the artists are posted at adn.com/artsnob. The exhibit will run through Dec. 14.
