East downs Colony

East pinned a rare loss on Colony Friday during the duals portion of the Glenn Vandergaw tournament at Dimond. The top-ranked Knights are the three-time defending Class 4A champions, and earlier this season took home a third consecutive victory at the unofficial state dual meet championship.

But the T-birds got wins from Nathan Marquez (103), Mat Malnoske (125), Skyler Moore (130), Josh Wiggins (140), Nathan Hoffer (145) and Richard Gingras (215) to take a 36-34 dual match win in the opening day of the tournament.

Today's action, which begins at 9 a.m., will follow a 16-man, bracket-style tournament format.
