FAIRBANKS -- A Fairbanks man who stole money from a Fort Wainwright military support fund has been sentenced to five years in prison.
The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner reported 30-year-old Keith Tayjphone Taylor pleaded guilty Monday to forgery. He's been in jail since August when he was arrested for spending $400 with a check stolen from the treasurer for the fort's B/2-B Family Support Fund. The fund assists soldiers returning from Iraq.
The fund's checkbook was taken from the treasurer's home in June while she was on a trip. Taylor was arrested Aug. 23 when he attempted to use another stolen check to make a purchase.
Taylor has more than two dozen prior convictions, including two for felony forgery.
