Hit-and-run lands one driver in the hospital

Anchorage police are looking for a stolen Jeep Cherokee involved in a hit-and-run accident that put a man in the hospital Saturday. The gray 2002 Jeep was first reported stolen from the 7000 block of Lowell Circle at 1:50 p.m., minutes after it had collided with a Dodge pickup at nearby Lowell and Raspberry Road, said Lt. Dave Parker, a police spokesman.

Witnesses saw two juveniles in the Jeep, he said. The driver of the pickup was taken to a local hospital for treatment of a head injury. His passenger was taken to jail.

Police didn't immediately identify the men in the pickup, though Parker said one happened to have a warrant for his arrest and was taken to jail.

As for the Jeep, it has heavy damage on the driver's side door and police are asking anyone who sees it to call 786-8900.
