"We want to do our best to get vaccine where there is currently a demand for it," said Diane Ingle, city health director, in a written statement.
The Anchorage School District will begin vaccinating students in middle and high schools next week, and that will also require a significant supply of vaccine, Ingle said.
The city held its first public mass swine-flu vaccination clinic at UAA Saturday but turnout was less than expected. Fewer than 900 people got the vaccine, a city official said.
The swine-flu vaccine at this time is available only to people in identified priority groups.
The canceled clinics include one today at the Downtown Transit Center; one Saturday at the Dimond Center mall; Dec. 1 at Dimond High School; Dec. 3 at Northway Mall; and Dec. 5 at UAA Cuddy Center.
