With the Olympics less than three months away, Alaska biathletes Jay Hakkinen and Jeremy Teela kick off their World Cup season on Thursday in Ostersund, Sweden. "After some pretty serious work by the organizer to move a very big pile of snow stored from last year onto the race course, conditions are not bad," Hakkinen wrote on his Web site Saturday. "We even had a light dusting of snow today."
Both Teela, a two-time Olympian, and Hakkinen, a three-time Olympian, are on the seven-member national A team.
Zach Hall of Nikiski, who now spends most of his time at the Olympic Training Center in Lake Placid, N.Y., is on the national B team.
