Lisburne oil spill

Crews use steamer equipment to melt contaminated material for collection with a vacuum rig Dec. 7, 2009. The spill was from an 18-inch three-phase common line carrying a mixture of crude oil, produced water, and natural gas. The spill discovered on Nov. 29, 2009, is approximately 1.5 miles from the Lisburne Production Center west of Prudhoe Bay.

A spill from an 18-inch three-phase common line carrying a mixture of crude oil, produced water, and natural gas was discovered on Nov 29, 2009, approximately 1.5 miles from the Lisburne Production Center west of Prudhoe Bay. Based on mapping and survey techniques, an early estimate by the Unified Command estimates the spill area consists of about 46,000 gallons of produced water and crude oil from the Lisburne L03 pipeline.
