Link: Nome Nugget About 150 people turned out Dec. 1 for Unalakleet's first-ever community Christmas tree lighting. It took tree hunters a while to find the 20-footer in the sparsely wooded area and tow it home. Resident Jeff Erickson writes that after a series of untimely deaths in the Norton Sound town of about 750 residents, "an idea was hatched to ... have a lighting ceremony that would physically bring us all together for an uplifting event."
