About 700 to 1,000 moose call the Anchorge Bowl home in the winter months, with 200 to 300 staying year round.
A cow moose feeds on saplings alongside Reeve Blvd. near Ship Creek on Thursday April 15, 2010. Rick Sinnott, Alaska Department of Fish and Game Anchorage area biologist, tagged the moose with a yellow number 14 ear tag after he freed it from between a shed and a fence in East Anchorage in 2005. In 2007 the moose fell into a open manhole near University Lake and got separated from its two calves also in 2007.
