The Alaska School Activities Association board of directors voted Tuesday to award the tournaments to Palmer High, which will hold the events at the Curtis D. Menard Memorial Sports Center in Wasilla.
ASAA executive director Gary Matthews said the bid is for the next three seasons.
The Menard sports complex also hosts the Class 3A/4A state hockey tournament. The facility, which is home to the Alaska Avalanche junior hockey team, has also hosted the Class 1-2-3A state wrestling tournament.
In other action, the ASAA board:
-- Awarded the bid for the next three Class 1A/2A and mixed 6 volleyball tournaments to Dimond High.
-- Named Ninilchik High principal Terry Martin as board president.
-- Approved changing the distance between home plate and the pitching rubber in softball from 40 to 43 feet for the 2010 season. The move is in keeping with national guidelines that mandate the change be made before the 2011 season.
-- Approved new members Liberty Christian of Iliamna and Cornerstone Christian of Wasilla.
-- Adopted its 2010-2011 season calendar.
-- Approved an amendment to the association's bylaws to allow head coaches ejected from a game while on the road to serve their automatic one-game suspension at a later date. Matthews explained that the change was requested on behalf of smaller schools who may not have additional coaching staff available on road trips.
