Damp means residents can import limited amounts of alcohol but it can't be sold locally.

Bethel had been damp for three decades before voters in October chose to make it a wet city.

Allen Joseph, a petition sponsor, said 673 signatures have been collected, far more than the 404 needed to get the issue back on the ballot, according to the Tundra Drums.

Several restaurants and grocery stores have liquor license applications pending before the state Alcoholic Beverage Control Board.
