Link: All Things Considered, NPR Annie Feidt of the Alaska Public Radio Network visited Aniak, near Bethel, just as the village's schoolchildren were preparing for last week's annual Christmas pageant. Just about everyone in the village of 500 is in the pageant or in the audience. "Traditional themes in the play take on new meaning in the remote Alaskan village," Feidt says. "Those sleighs look a lot like dog sleds. ... But in many ways, the pageant isn't so different from thousands of others taking place across the country."
