North Pole rep puts fence around junk

December 31, 2009

FAIRBANKS -- State Rep. Tammie Wilson of North Pole has put a plywood fence around her property to comply with Fairbanks Borough code. A neighbor had complained to the borough about scattered junk on the property.

Code enforcement officer Joyce Kelso declared the site in violation after a Nov. 4 inspection. She says Wilson got right on the problem when it was brought to her attention.

The neighbor filed the complaint days before the November mayoral runoff election. Wilson was involved in a close race for borough mayor against Luke Hopkins.

Hopkins won and Wilson has since been appointed to the state Legislature.
