Citing a low level of seismic activity and lack of signs of unrest, the observatory also reduced the aviation color code at the 10,200-foot volcano from yellow to green.

A series of small, shallow earthquakes broke out at the unruly volcano Dec. 27, prompting the observatory to increase the alert level from green to yellow for the first time since it erupted last spring.

The quakes have now subsided and thermal images taken Dec. 31 showed parts of the dome were still hot but it was still mostly cold and snow covered.

The AVO is continuing to monitor the volcano.
