An Anchorage man wanted in a 15-year-old slaying in the Philippines has been arrested and is awaiting extradition, according to the U.S. Marshals Service. Armando Olde Y Balangatan, a 58-year-old Philippine-born naturalized U.S. citizen, was arrested Thursday at Anchorage's international airport after the Alaska Fugitive Task Force learned he was living in Anchorage, authorities said.
Olde was wanted on a murder charge in the death of Renato Arle, who was killed in the Philippines in 1995, the marshals service said. Details on the slaying weren't immediately available.
At the time of his arrest, Olde was living in Anchorage and working on a merchant ship ported at the island of Diego Garcia, Supervisory Deputy U.S. Marshal David Long said. He was arrested getting off an airplane at the airport, Long said.
