Kenai River dipnetters hit the mother lode over the third weekend of July, 2011.
While anglers flock in groves to the Kenai Peninsual for salmon fishing this week, Ship Creek in downtown Anchorage continues to supply large hauls.

Travis Recer, 9, hauled in a gorgeous 22-inch rainbow trout at Knik Lake on Saturday to win the Gettin Jiggy 2010 Kids Ice Fishing Derby.
More than 300 children participated in the event sponsored by the Mat-Su Angler, which seeks to teach ice fishing and benefite the Alaska Make A Wish Foundation. More than $4,500 was raised.
Jordan Kofoad, 11, finished second with a 21-inch trout and Blake Umhauer took third with his 20.5-incher.
In addition to the fishing, there was a hand ice auger contest and geo caching lessons. Busch Whacker Decoys set up an underwater camera for kids to view beneath the ice.
