DUI, manslaughter charged in crash that killed cabdriver

Anchorage police arrested a 39-year-old man Thursday evening on drunken driving and manslaughter charges in connection with the death of a cabdriver last weekend. Lawrence A. Brewer faces the charges in connection with the wreck Saturday, police said.

Brewer is accused in the death of Yellow Cab driver Dale Polkarney, who died in the wreck at the intersection of Fireweed Lane and Arctic Boulevard. Brewer ran a red light, police said.

He has been booked at the Anchorage jail with bail set at $50,000 cash plus a third-party custodian requirement, police said.
