Streeper finishes first in stage stop race

Defending Fur Rendezvous World Champion Blayne Streeper of Fort Nelson, British Columbia, won the eight-day International Pedigree Stage Stop Sled Dog Race in Jackson, Wyo., on Saturday. Streeper blazed the final 9-mile stage in 32:20 -- averaging nearly 17 mph -- to cap off his victory. Overall, he took 22 hours, 35 minutes and 35 seconds. Lina Gladh, also of Fort Nelson was second overall with Joe Gans of Minnesota third.

Debbie Moderow of Anchorage finished 13th overall, more than five hours behind Streeper.
