According to prosecutors, Crawford and Brown got into a fight while drinking at Brown's home on West 45th Avenue after Crawford punched his wife in the eye. Brown intervened and Crawford, who unsuccessfully ran for an East Anchorage Assembly seat in 2007, shot Brown several times with a pistol.

He acted as his own attorney during trial. Sentencing is set for May 21.
