Prosecutors say Smith broke into a cabin and the main house of an Eagle River man about the time the homeowner was returning from work to meet with delivery men who were bringing him windows. The homeowner saw Smith breaking into the house through a window, prosecutors said.
Smith then attacked the homeowner with a crowbar stolen from the cabin. But Smith was subdued when the delivery men came to the aid of homeowner. They helped the man restrain Smith until police arrived, prosecutors said.
A jury on Friday convicted Smith on three felonies -- two counts of burglary and one of assault -- as well as misdemeanor assault and providing false information to police charges. Prosecutors say he is facing a maximum of 10 years in prison on each of the felony charges.
Smith is set to be sentenced April 22.
