Three men are charged with robbery and assault and their victim is in critical condition at a local hospital after an attack Wednesday night in Town Square, police say. The robbery occurred about 8:55 p.m. at 544 W. Fifth Ave., according to police. Witnesses told police that Terrel Brewer, 26, Nicholas Kozorra, 20, and Brian Morissette, 20, repeatedly punched and stomped another man, Robert Estes, in the head, police say.
The attackers took Estes' wallet and shoes, police say.
Police were combing downtown looking for the men when a police sergeant saw three men fighting an older man at the bus station, police say.
"Apparently they went from one victim to another," said Lt. Dave Parker, a police spokesman.
"Alcohol is suspected to be a factor," he said.
Police arrested the three men, whom witnesses identified as the attackers in the earlier Town Square robbery.
All are Anchorage residents, police said. All are charged with first-degree robbery and second-degree assault. They may face additional charges and are expected to appear in court this afternoon.
Brewer's bail has been set at $100,000, with bail for Kozorra and Morissette set at $50,000 each.
